Well we have been in the
Hospital with miss Lydia since Tuesday night! We got to go home yesterday afternoon thankfully not sure if I could have stayed another night there! I wasn't sleeping much and I was so tired from being tired felt so good to come home but never been so nervous coming home with a baby I wasn't nervous coming home from the hospital when Lydia was born! yesterday I was! She was having breathing problems she has been for a couple weeks! We saw her doctor Monday and Tuesday night I was getting her ready for bed changing her diaper and she was breathing so fast and it just wasn't right! I counted her breaths per min. and it was 65 breath which was high for a little one like her! I called my mom and she said to call children's hospital and talk to a nurse......so I did and the nurse was like let me listen to her breath and she was like u need to hang up the phone and call 911 and I was like REALLY!! My baby needs to go in a
ambulance! I started bawling!!!!!! we didn't call 911 and just took her
ourselves to
Children's Hospital My mom and sister met Michael and I down there! We figured she has been like this for a couple days we will just drive her down there we found out that they have to tell you to call 911 when breathing problems to be safe!!!!!!!! we made it down there just fine and my mom and molly beat us down there! We of course got bumped up to the top of the list with breathing issues!!!! We got called back and we were in the E.R. room from 8:30pm till 12:30am! They looked her over and asked Michael and I questions about her! they sucked some boogers out of her which she hated for RSV to see if she had it! and did a chest x-ray which she did great no cries Michael held her arms down and I held her legs! The doctor said the Chest x-ray was good and I had a feeling they were going to admit her! for one just
cuz she is under 3 months old! The doctor came in after they did a
neb on her and said we will be getting admitted and spending the night! that was like at 11:30pm Tues. night Michael went home since he was going to work the next day...after he found out we were staying which was fine with me! My mom and sister was with me! at 12:30am we were told we could get walked up to our room! So we did with the nurse and got her all settled in! Lydia was a little loopy and very giggly from the
neb I never have seen her like it. We got settled in and my mom and sister left and I got settled in our the bed and we went to bed! I didn't sleep good anyways I went to bed by the time we got settled in at 2am the nurse came in and suction her nose she hated so much and screamed it was so sad she went back to sleep finally after rocking her! I was up at 5am watched the news went back to bed till 7am 9am the doctor came in to look at her and talk to me! Noon about 6 people came in the 2
ENT doctors, 2 med students and 2 nurses! I had to explain what was going on and I was like freaked out why are so many people in here for my daughter what is going on??? The doctor looked at her and of course he wanted to scope her! She SCREAMED the whole time and the all had to hold her down it wasn't fun watching her being held down I almost had to leave!!! The put a tub down her nose and then a light shined down and they wanted to see if they could see anything! Well they did! Lydia has tracheal
malacia which is...
(Congenital tracheomalacia is a weakness and floppiness of the walls of the windpipe (trachea), which is present at birth.) (Tracheomalacia in a newborn occurs when the cartilage in the windpipe (trachea) has not developed properly. Instead of being rigid, the walls of the trachea are floppy. Because the windpipe is the main airway, breathing difficulties begin soon after birth.) and with the Tracheal Malacia she has Stridor is a term used to describe noisy breathing in general and to refer specifically to a high-pitched crowing sound associated with croup , respiratory infection, and airway obstruction. Which with the Stridor she was sounding like she had croup or something! That was pretty much how she has been sounding for the last 2 weeks or so and just got worse! They say I read it happens between 11 days and 2 months of their birth! if they get it most likely the first couple days of birth they don't do much but just lay around and sleep and by 2 months they can hold their head up and move around and by moving around and moving her head that is how it was found..... Tuesday was the worse seeing her get held down and get a scope down her! She didn't have to have the scope where they would have to put her to sleep thankfully!!! She never had to get an I.v. or any pokes thankfully she was monitered very closely with her breathing and got deep suctioned out a lot during her stay and they def got a lot of boogers out! Michael came up after work each night and then would go home! I knew she was fine and I was fine He would have stayed with us if we need to but I knew she wasn't going to get any test done or anything! We got the O.K. to go home Friday after the doctor made his rounds! Michael came up after work at noon and we left by 1:30pm Friday and got home by 2:30pm and I gave Lydia a bath and washed all our cloths and everything we had at the hospital took a shower myself and we were in bed by 6:30pm and sleeping by 7pm I was so tired from not getting much sleep the last week! I just need to go to bed and get a good night sleep! Of course Lydia got off the schedule from being at the hospital and was up a few times to eat but that didn't bother me! I was so nervous going to bed though with her! I am going to borrow that angel mattress pad from a friend of mine and hopefully that will let me sleep peacefully and won't be so worried! :-)

By Friday afternoon we were on our way home! YAY!!! It was the scariest thing that has happen to our little Lydia since she has been home from birth! We hope to never have to go back there! We were so happy we brought her to Children's hospital couldn't have asked for a better place for to get taken care of!!! We follow up with Lydia's doctor Tuesday afternoon and go back and see the ENT doctor in his office Feb. 16th for a follow up! I am cerious to see what he will have to say then! We have to be very careful with taking her out in public now! I am going to have to get out of our house I can't be stuck in it forever so we'll be going to my parents I am sure to get out and see something different!!!!
